Goodbye 2020, Hello 2021

It's no secret that 2020 was a difficult year for everyone. What started as a celebration of a new decade quickly turned into one long pause as COVID loomed over the world. I'm not going to lie - it was pretty damn scary in the beginning. I remember sitting in my academic building waiting in the common area for my next class to start back in March. Talk of this new virus had already been the topic of the week and at this point, I was refreshing every website, email account, and social media channel on an update as to what the plan was going to be. Then it was announced: everyone who can must return home for the next two weeks as a long-term plan was being developed. The next day I left for what I thought was going to be two weeks - it turned out I wouldn't be able to return fully until August.

That meant staying home, quarantining, and going to my college classes online. It seemed so bizarre that this was happening. I managed to study a lot, work even more, and bake a ton. I really tried to just fill up my time so I wouldn't be sitting around for the majority of the day. This also meant that I had a lot of time to reflect on what really mattered to me and what I realized I, and I'm sure a lot of us, took advantage of prior to this year. I came up with a list of 10 Things I'm Grateful For Because of 2020, which you can read about here.

.

As much as I would like to use this time to look back and reflect on this year in writing, I want to focus on the New Year and the good that is about to come our way. I want to put my resolutions out into the universe and seriously kick butt in 2021. With no particular order in mind, I came up with a list of resolutions that I want to work towards and achieve this year. This includes:

➼ Apply for Grad school and get accepted into my desired program

➼ Find a late summer/early fall Sales Internship

➼ Blog more

➼ Keep knitting fun projects

➼ Get back into taking photos

➼ Continue to eat healthy and exercise more

➼ Work more

➼ Enjoy the outdoors more

➼ Spend quality time with my friends and family

➼ Save money for future plans

➼ Get all A's this spring semester

➼ Get all A's in the fall semester

➼ Re-vamp my IG page

➼ Earn my Sales Certificate

➼ Grow professionally

I think it's safe to say that my goals are pretty attainable - a challenge, but reachable. Here's to the New Year and to what we can all accomplish. Cheers!

Hi, it's nice to meet you!

I'm Ryan (but you can call me Ry). I'm just your average 23-year-old from the Midwest, on a mission to travel as much as I can, learn every day, and eat all of the good foods out there.

Let the posts
come to you.
